The â€Å"ever deepening connection† with God and community, like the previous elements, deserves careful attention. While community is defined above, God has yet to be. I cannot, of course, muster a clear and concise understanding of whom or what God is; I can give a conceptual understanding in relational terms to help clarify this ministry’s definition. I understand God to be the triune God, encompassing the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. I believe these titles represent a relational understanding of how God actively participates in creation throughout history. I believe that as individuals actively participate in vocational discernment, their connection with the triune God grows ever deeper. Because vocational discernment includes the community, individuals grow in connection with their â€Å"community of neighbors†. Including â€Å"neighbors† is intentional. First, community is composed of neighbors. Second, it is to reiterate the scriptural commandment to â€Å"love your neighbor as yourself†. Nurturing friendships, as Beckwith outlines, must be intentional. Although she wrote from the perspective of children’s ministry, her concepts can be applied to the relational interaction of individuals of various ages and enhance the vocational discernment process. The next element of this definition has two features, (1) the reflective methods and practices and (2) the components aroused through reflection. The art of Romare Bearden has been viewed and influential to many artists, musicians, political figures, scholars, and everyday people. Born in Charlotte, North Carolina in 1911, and soon moved to New York, also spending little time in Pittsburgh , Pennsylvania, Bearden was raised in a middle class household where both his parents held decent jobs. At an early age Bearden was exposed to great diversity of artists, musicians and writers, his home was a frequent hangout spot for major figures such as Duke Ellington, Langston Hughes and many more. I was anxious and not handling it well. But my mom hugged and comforted me, saying the next day would be great. She was wrong. The first weeks of school were grim. I acted painfully shy, even though I’m naturally gregarious and laidback.
